The world-famous company Segway, whose main task was the production of environmentally friendly and high-tech vehicles, was founded in July 1999 by American mechanic Dean Kamenom. It was then that the story of the creation of the electric scooter segway began - a compact and maneuverable mode of transport, capable of moving almost anywhere.
In February 2001, the construction of a Segway plant was started in Bedford, New Hampshire. And in December of the same year the company was called "Segway", which in English means "smooth transition from one position to another". And at the same time, in December 2001, the first Segway model was released, which Dein Kamen's development took more than ten years to complete.
After the release of the first model followed the rapid development of improvements and variations of technology: Ferrari Segway, sigve for children and other models. In November 2002, Segway launched the first mass model of the Segway HT-i167, which any US citizen over the age of 18 could purchase. After the i180 was released.
And in 2006, the Segway model lineup was replenished with two new scooters - the Segway i2 and the Segway x2, while the previous models were removed from production.
In April 2009, Segway Company announced a prototype of the Project P.U.M.A., which was created to address the problems of environmental pollution and urban traffic jams through the existing technology of dynamic stabilization. And at the Expo 2010 held in Shanghai, the company introduced the EN-V model, which was a full-featured vehicle with increased dynamics for two people, capable of interacting with sensory technologies.
In October 2012, Segway introduced the latest prototype of the Robotics Mobility Platform (RMP), a four-wheeled ARTI scooter that is equipped with a hinged steering system, which makes it possible to transport heavier loads over uneven terrain.
To date, segways are widely used by postal workers, golfers, policemen, as well as in the film industry - for quick movement around the set.
Segway has an extensive worldwide network, represented by more than 250 dealers and distributors, as well as 80 qualified centers located in different countries. Also the international network Segway includes 3 specialized service centers, which are located in the USA, Singapore and Germany.
